Dr. Dania Wattar and Rosalia Cha had a great session with 25 educators, administrators, and researchers at the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education (OAME) in Oshawa in May! As AI continues to evolve rapidly and teachers increasingly use it to support instruction, they focused on integrating culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy with AI tools to enhance math education for multilingual learners. Participants were engaged in interactive activities such as artefact-based learning, explored the use of multilingual and multimodal digital platforms like Binogi, and emphasized family engagement. They compared AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot, highlighting their strengths and limitations in generating culturally relevant content. They also introduced other useful AI tools to support multilingual students in math class: Magic School and Diffit.
